from driving and get out from behind the wheel with one of the mountain's several transportation choices. The Fusion Shuttle begins and ends each weekend day at the Sandy Starbucks. Timberline Lodge & Ski Area has announced its spring pass pricing, making skiing and sunshine highly affordable. The Timberline Express is available weekdays from Greater Portland hotels. Special prices are available on lift tickets when you stay at many Mt. Hood vacation rentals. Try out one of the ski packages from The Resort at The Mountain and enjoy the complementary shuttle service to Mt. Hood Skibowl. As always, Nordic skiing and snowshoeing are two low-cost ways to enjoy the outdoors. Mt. Hood Info in Government Camp provides regularly-updated trail information to make it easy.
Sate your senses with a feast for the eyes during First Fridays throughout Mt. Hood Territory. From unspoiled small towns like Estacada to pioneering classics like Oregon City, galleries roll out the red carpet to usher in art-loving visitors. Grab a bite as you stroll local streets and share insights with fellow patrons. Currently, Howden Art and Framing's "Give Me Shelter" exhibit features dozens of regional artists bringing awareness of displaced pets. Kings Raven Winery adds a touch of panache to the evenings. The new "Nomad" Gallery is a moving venue that showcases local art and artists in unused downtown storefronts. The Three Rivers Artists Guild Gallery shares space with Second Hand Prose bookstore and rounds out an enjoyable evening of culture.
Just across the river and open twelve months out of the year, 24 hours a day, Lake Oswego's contemporary Gallery Without Walls is available for your strolling enjoyment. Thirty minutes away, Estacada's Spiral Gallery Artists Co-operative features art as varied as the artists who create it. Diverse exhibits and original artwork from watercolor to oil, wood to metal, jewelry to sculpture make the Spiral Gallery a hot ticket on First Fridays. Showcased cooperative artists are all local, living in and around Estacada. Take the walking tour of the city's murals while you're in town. Awesome microbreweries found in unexpected places... that's a Pacific Northwest perk. Here in Mt. Hood Territory, we're proud to call out some of the best brewmeisters found anywhere. Estacada's Fearless Brewing runs in front of the new wave by putting their craft beer in cans, celebrates the equinox with a jubilant Spring "Maibock" release, offers daily recession-buster $1.50 per pint Cream Ale Specials and puts a little something extra in their delectable Tomahawk Brown, a high spirited, hoppy brew with a distinct brown malt background.
Up on the mountain
brews await at The Ice Axe Grill, home of Mt. Hood Brewing Company. This pub has been enjoyed by thousands of skiers, fisherman, hikers, tourists and locals. Just across the road, Mt. Hood Skibowl celebrates a great beer tradition with "Suds on the Slope." Soak up the rays and live music while you watch daring feats of snowboarding skill and logic-defying pond skimming. Sample fine microbrews and compete in the hotdog eating contest. Remember to bring along a designated driver or plan to partake of mountain hospitality and the Porch to Powder shuttle. Cheers!
